As a superior craftsman and metal smith Jamie Goode creates sculptures from sheets of steel and transforms them into beautiful female figures. Through welding, hammering, bending, and heating she is able to capture the essence of the human form as well as its elegance. She states: The human body is one of the most amazing creations to walk the Earth. Why every part works as it does is almost beyond comprehension and deserves our respect. The grace and sensuality of the feminine curves and natural strength of women are what I try to represent. A womans body is a wonderful collection of shapes and textures. This beautiful form should always be looked at with appreciation Jamie Goode received her Master of Fine arts degree from the Cranbrook Academy of art in 1989 and is currently an instructor of metalsmithing and Figure Study at Sienna Heights University in Adrian, MI. She was awarded the Rose M. Reder Memorial Award for Excellence in Sculpture from the 85th Annual Toledo Area Artists Exhibition |
