John Wittersheim |
|
John Wittersheims sculpture is derived from the simple yet engaging object known as the "plumb bob". He states, "my work relies on strong linear elements, surface development through texture and coloration, and an emphasis on the presentation of recycled objects. These objects represent the effort and skill of past craftsmen; men who invested countless hours of their lives producing objects, and whose efforts have outlined the objects usefulness. By resurrecting these objects I endeavor to infuse my energy with theirs, and in turn, pay tribute to their contribution."
John is a professor of Art and the Head of Metalsmithing and Sculpture at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. He received a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1978 and has been exhibiting ever since |
