|
An Oregon native recently transplanted to the mountains of Pennsylvania, Margo McCafferty is a painter whose work has been widely exhibited in this country, from Hilo, Hawaii to Falmouth, Massachusetts. McCafferty lives in an old church with her husband, sculptor Tom Rudd and their son Max, where she not only paints but also collaborates with Tom to create color reduction relief prints. Her work has been reviewed in Artweek, Reflex and Arts Oregon, and she is included in the 1997-98 edition of Who's Who of American Women. She has taught art at Arizona State University, Western Oregon State College and Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon.
McCafferty makes paintings about the intricate and enigmatic profusion of life in her natural surroundings. She began developing her artmaking skills while living in Japan and Italy in the late 1970's. Academic studies ensued and McCafferty received an MFA in drawing and painting from Arizona State University in 1990. Earlier degrees include a BA in Art from Western Oregon State College and a BA in political science from Williamette University. Besides teaching and making art, McCafferty worked as Public Art Registrar and Conservation Coordinator for the Oregon Arts Commission. Margo McCafferty's work appears in numerous public and private collections. Public Collections include the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, the Oregon State Police, Chemeketa Community College, The Portland Trailblazers, Harmann and Reimer (Germany) and U.S. West Airlines. |
