Robert J. Huff

 Born in Akron, Ohio, Robert received a BFA in sculpture from the University of Akron then went on to receive an MFA in sculpture from Ohio State University.Returning to Akron, Robert began teaching full time at the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron in 1981.

Robert says of his current work: "To make art in stone required setting aside my earlier work for a while in order to experiment and learn. The work in this exhibition represents a reconsideration of previously stalled or failed projects. Some works had technical difficulties. Some just didn't live up to my expectations or were neglected as I pursued a different set of concerns. All of them were still interesting enough that I couldn"t discard them. Instead, I decided to challenge myself to finally resolve these pieces to the best of my present abilities and with a more experienced understanding of stone."

Robert's work in sculpture includes objects for gallery exhibition, site specific installations and public art projects. Some pieces have been altered, others have been completely transformed but all have been resolved on their own terms.
