Flatlanders Art Galleries proudly presents Tad McKillop in a solo exhibition of his recent sculpture titled, "Figurative Sculpture." This exhibit is open to the public from April 5th through May 27th, 2005 with a reception with the artist planned for April 10th, 2005 from 1 to 4p.m. This exhibit is free of charge.

Tad McKillop was born in 1965 in Detroit, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan in 1988, apprenticed for sculptor Louis Marinaro, and went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts form the New York Academy of Art.

Tad says of his work: "I have always been interested in history, nature and studying the mythology within different cultures. These have been the constant source of inspiration and subject matter for my sculpture. I strive to make art that is affirming of life and the universal human experience, whatever the subject matter may be. My goal is that there will be something in my work that will speak to every person on many different levels.   The human figure is central to my sculpture because I feel it is the best way to express [attitudes] relating to our experiences, or rites of passage, as humans."
